The Key To Self Improvement
68Change The Way That You Think
You can change anything about yourself even the way that you think. That is one of my favorite things to preach to people and I truly believe it because I did it. I changed the way that I think.
I sometimes joke that I am the Queen of Self Improvement because of everything that I have done to improve myself over the years. And because I'm always looking for new ways that I can better myself in the future. Whether it be with my mind, in the physical, spiritually and/or emotionally.
I can tell you that if there is anything physical that you would like to change about yourself, you have to start with working on the inside first and you need to change the way that you think.
Moving On From The Past
I struggled for years with depression and anxiety since age 12. At age 25 I hit a crossroad in my life where I was tired of just existing, I wanted to live. In my case, I have many past hurts, traumas and also struggled with extremely low self esteem.
I also at one point, because of all of that, had severe social anxiety. I would get anxiety/panic attacks around people and especially in crowds. I hid from the world for a long time because of this. I would abandon grocery carts. Ever hear of fight or flight?? Well I was the flight girl, but I faced those fears and over came all of that.
How do you get past social anxiety? First of all with alot of therapy, second of all by forcing yourself into the situations that you fear most. The more you do this the more you are able to live a normal life.
Self Help
In my particular situation I needed therapy. After 2 years of therapy I grew so much on the inside and I was finally starting to love and accept myself that I began working on the physical things that I was unhappy with.
Over the past 4 years I have learned how to lose weight the right way, how to eat healthy, I found home remedies and lotions and potions (that's what I call them lol) for everything and anything to improve things that I didn't like about myself.
You know, those things that you want to 'get rid of', ie: stretch marks, spider veins, etc. I am happy to say that I am finally confident in my physical self.
My next self improvement step is education. I became a Mommy young and never made it to college. So I would like to take classes in the future. Right now I am building several home businesses to support my children because I have a disabled child that keeps me from working.
I have always been an entrepeneur at heart and it is my dream to make working from home work for my family. I learn more about myself and grow each day. I still have a way to go but at least I know that I am on the right path to loving myself and self acceptance.
So what is the key to self improvement? Changing the way that you think...

Nice and Very Encouraging...
I have found the concept or idea of 'self analysis' extremely useful. Too many people 'act' before thinking and fall into bad behavioral patterns totally oblivious of the self destructive consequences.
Identifying bad behavioral habits and being honest with yourself is the first and vital step to self improvement.
Nice hub by the way, look forward to more great hubs frm you, take care!
Inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story. I 100% percent agree that changing our thinking habits is the key to living a successful life. I also agree with dablufox that self-analysis it the way to get there. The formula I preach whenever I do public speaking is “focused action + wise choices + self-awareness = a meaningful life.” Having a formula doesn’t make it easy but it does provide a roadmap.
Warmest regards
